Stephen Magnus is a professional musician, performer, and teacher. He has been playing guitar since he was a teenager, and has been performing professionally for more than thirty years. His career as a recording artist began in the early 1970s with the band "The Hillbenders". In 1976, he signed a solo deal with Columbia Records and released his first solo album, "Birds of a Feather"

Other solo albums followed: "Travellers' Tales" (1981), "Fire from Within" (1982), "Heavenly Hymns" (1983), and "Heartland" (1985). In 1985, he released his first instrumental solo album, "Elements of Rock Guitar", which was followed by two more instrumental releases: "Tone Licks" (1989) and "Nothin' but Blue" (1991). In 1992 he joined the band Zebra and released their major label debut album: "Zebra: A Musical Odyssey".
Their next album: "Songs from the Inside" (1993) was also released on RCA Records. In 1994 he re-joined his former bandmates from Zebra to record their next album: "For All Time". The multi-platinum selling CD: "Angel's Footsteps", released in 1997, featured Magnus as musical director as well as lead vocalist.
Two years later they released their self-titled CD: "The Zebra Story". In 1999 they released their last major label CD: "From the Inside Out". Today, Stephen plays guitar for concerts and tours with many artists including: Bonnie Raitt, Paul McCartney, John Hiatt, Kenny Loggins and the Cactus Blossoms.
